In Westport, the Artists Collective has unveiled its new exhibition, 'American Journeys,' at The Westport Library, marking a celebration of creativity and community. The debut includes a vibrant mural titled 'Piece by Piece,' which combines artistic voices from across the region. This work was created using 48 square panels, each reimagined by a member of the collective, inspired by the identity of their original artwork, which remains a secret. The artists received printed sections of panels and blank spaces to interpret them, resulting in a mosaic of diverse styles and perspectives. The mural stands 6 feet high and 8 feet wide, symbolizing collaboration and the richness of human experience. It will be displayed in the Trefz Forum, left of the stage. The collection, 'American Journeys,' reflects the themes of America’s semiquincentennial celebrations, emphasizing the complexity of individual journeys rather than singular narratives. Over 60 members contributed works, offering varied artistic expressions. All pieces are available for purchase and on view in the Sheffer and South Galleries. Both exhibits open June 4, at 6 p.m. for the second exhibit with the unveiling of 'Piece by Piece' at 7 p.m.
